Precast construction – is it technological rationality or capital driven?
In recent years, semi assembled frame structures represented by “stacked floor slabs+precast walls+precast stairs” have rapidly spread under strong policy promotion.
However, an intriguing phenomenon is occurring on construction sites: the cost of such buildings is significantly higher than that of cast-in-place structures, but their overall integrity and seismic performance are generally inferior to fully cast-in-place structures.
So, a sharp question emerged: is this “neither cheap nor reliable” technological route a necessary stage in the evolution of construction technology, or is it a “deformed product” born from the collusion of capital and policies?.
