The path to emission reduction in the cement industry
China’s annual cement production is about 2.4 billion tons, and each ton of cement clinker produced requires approximately 1.3 tons of calcareous raw materials.
Including the use of calcium rich waste such as calcium carbide slag, steel slag, and slag, replacing limestone as the raw material for cement production, can save a large amount of natural mineral resources.
Under fluidized bed calcination conditions, the heat and mass transfer efficiency is high, and the material can be quickly heated to around 1400 ℃ within a few seconds, making it an ideal equipment for cement clinker production.
At present, more than 2/3 of cement plants in developed countries in Europe use Alternative fuel, and the proportion of combustible waste in the cement industry is 20% on average.
However, at present, fuel substitution in China is still in the research and demonstration stage, with an overall low substitution rate, and there is still huge room for promotion and application* Raw material substitution.
The problem faced by raw material substitution is that the available amount of calcium rich waste is difficult to meet the demand for cement production* Transformative cement clinker production process.
Rotary kiln is the main equipment for cement clinker production.
Data shows that if 40% of Alternative fuel are used in cement production, 100000 tons of carbon dioxide will be saved for every 1000000 tons of clinker produced.

Using combustible waste such as garbage and biomass, as well as new energy sources such as green hydrogen and photovoltaic, to reduce the combustion of traditional fossil fuels such as coal.
Compared with Rotary kiln, burning cement clinker under fluidization conditions can reduce coal consumption by more than 20%, carbon dioxide emissions by more than 25% (if Alternative fuel such as biomass are used, the effect will be more obvious), and nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 40%, which is the next generation of new low-carbon cement kiln technology.
If we say who is most likely to replace the Rotary kiln in the future, it is natural to first promote the burning of fluidized cement clinker.
To achieve low-carbon cement production, it is necessary to change the cement clinker production process.

Therefore, using industrial solid waste as a substitute raw material is one of the important means for the cement industry to synergistically dispose of industrial solid waste, reduce natural mineral consumption, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
